Despite its commendable contributions to the Nation's economy, the SME sector does not get the required support from the concerned Government agencies, banks, financial institutions and other stake holders, which is hindering SMEs in becoming more competitive at the National and International levels. SMEs face a number of problems, such as inadequate and timely banking finance, skilled manpower, limited capital and knowledge, non-availability of suitable technology, low production capacity, ineffective marketing strategy, identification of new markets, constraints on modernisation & expansions, non-availability of highly skilled labourers at affordable costs and follow-up with the various Government agencies to resolve problems, etc.
